Quartz countertop is fabricated with man made quartz slab. The slab is not pulled from a rock quarry, not like natural granite or natural marble. Rather, the quartz slab is called engineered stone, as it is manufactured in a quartz slab factory. Quartz stone is made from mixing crushed natural quartz particles with different sizes and small percentages of other stone materials, bonding all together with certain percentages of plastic resin. Therefore, the original natural quartz ensures the hardness and difficult scratch of finished quartz slabs, while resin ensures the zero water absorption of the quartz tops.
Originally, manufacturers try to mix quartz particles or quartz sand with crushed mirror, as well as plastic resin, which realizes the first generation of quartz colors, like starlight white, black and grey, etc. Nowadays, these colors are so easy to manufacture that each new manufacturer would like to try these colors for their new machines. Moreover, these colors are the cheapest and the most popular, which we could make with very competitive prices.
